Our Story

Soma started with a simple observation: most intimates are designed to be looked at, not lived in. Underwires that dig by noon, sleep sets that scratch, "one size" shapewear that fights your body instead of moving with it. We wanted to build something quieter — pieces you put on in the morning and genuinely stop thinking about, because they simply work.

We began with a small, focused range: a handful of wireless and full-coverage bras, seamless everyday underwear, and one sleep set cut from a modal jersey soft enough to actually sleep well in. Every fabric was chosen first for how it wears after the tenth wash, not just how it photographs on day one. That discipline is still how we build the collection today — fewer pieces, made well, rather than a constant churn of trend-driven drops.

Since then, Soma has grown into a full wardrobe of foundational pieces: bras and bralettes, panties and briefs, sleepwear, loungewear, smoothing shapewear, and swim. But the founding idea hasn't changed. Sizing & Fit Support

Finding the right size in intimates is genuinely hard to do online, so we try to make it easier. Every bra and shapewear product page includes a detailed size chart with chest, waist, and hip measurements in both inches and centimeters, along with a "how to measure" guide and fit tips for sizing between ranges. Materials & Fit Philosophy

We spend more time than most brands deciding what fabric goes into a piece before we ever decide what it looks like. Our modal jerseys are chosen for how they regulate temperature through the night. Our bra microfiber is chosen for four-way stretch that recovers its shape wash after wash instead of going slack after a month. Our shapewear fabric is chosen for graduated compression that smooths without cutting off circulation. None of that shows up in a product photo, so we try to describe it plainly in every product description instead of leaning on vague marketing language.

Fit is treated the same way. Rather than a single "one size fits most" cut, most of our styles run from XS through 2XL, and our bras are offered across a real band-and-cup range rather than a generic small/medium/large. We would rather a customer spend two extra minutes reading a size chart before ordering than receive something that doesn't fit and have to go through a return.
